Slow down and enjoy the journey

Very often drivers ask me for advice about how to pass a practical driving test. The most common misunderstanding is that drivers need to drive very slowly during the test, but this is incorrect!

We should drive approximately 5kms under the speed limit, when road conditions allow. We shouldn't be driving too slow or we will impede the flow of traffic.

Likewise, driving too fast can also affect a test result as we are not allowing enough time to make safe decisions.

So many drivers rush to get upto the speed limit as quickly as possible. We should be making a smooth, controlled transition to just under the speed limit. This is a much calmer experience for the passenger too!!

Slow down and enjoy the journey. Allow yourself time to read the road, reduce speed and buffer left when vision is compromised and stay safe on our roads at all times.
